AT LOCAL RECYCLING CENTRE NORDHAVN WASTE SORTING BECOMES AN INTUITIVE MATTER

Our Local Recycling Centre Nordhavn in Copenhagen is now open to the public – and is already an integrated part of the citizens’ daily life!

The project is a state of the art recycling hub, where people from the local community interact and learn about the importance of seeing waste as a resource.

An actual “material wall” is implemented in the project – welcoming visitors to the recycling centre with its curved walls. Though it looks like an artwork built of waste, it also has a practical function showing visitors how to dispose of their waste correctly. Sorting of waste thus becomes an intuitive matter in Nordhavn.

The aim of the project was to create an unique and effective waste sorting as it is the most important prerequisite for effective recycling. At Local Recycling Centre Nordhavn the waste handling is more user friendly and instructive – and at the same time an exhibition of the possibilities that recycling and reuse offer to a sustainable future.
