In today’s Børsen you can read more about Lendager Group’s collaboration with Carlsberg City on the reuse and upcycling of the Carlsberg brewery’s old bricks.
The bricks will be implemented in our housing project The Resource Rows. It is a unique opportunity to continue the Carlsberg brewery’s characteristic identity and history in new buildings.
COLLABORATION CREATES INNOVATION
Lendager Group’s founder and CEO, Anders Lendager, contacted Carlsberg City about the opportunity to reuse the old bricks from the Carlsbergs brewery’s building Stødpudelageret. As the alternative was that the bricks would have been used as crushed road fill, both parties were convinced that collaboration would create something extraordinary with the brewery’s old bricks.
However, it was not possible to reuse the bricks individually, because of the highly durable mortar between the old bricks. For the first time ever the bricks are thus cut out in square modules, which are then processed and stacked up to create walls that consist of between six to nine square modules each. This innovative approach is developed by Lendager Group – and is brand new in the global industry.
A LOCAL SOLUTION ON A GLOBAL PROBLEM
The collaboration between Lendager Group and Carlsberg City has global potentials. Lendager Group has with the upcycle brick modules created a solution that makes recirculation and upcycling of building materials scalable – and it can be implemented in all types of construction projects and facades. The collaboration with Carlsberg City is a pioneer project, which Lendager Group hopes will inspire other architects, investors, contractors and clients to build sustainable and reuse materials both in Denmark and in the rest of the world.
The Resource Rows are developed in collaboration with NREP, Arkitektgruppen and MOE.
