FANØ BEACHHOUSE
/in News /by dreamitWe are at LENDAGER ARCHITECTS very proud to present you our latest sustainable exploration. BEACHHOUSE is located in the stunning surroundings of Fanø and the World Heritage listed Wadden Sea. This particular context requires a consistent sustainable construction with a minimal footprint – literally as well as metaphorically. Our most important job is to let the landscape and strong community speak for itself.
“Fanø is the story of wind, water and the rugged natural beauty. A story of mobile bathrooms, a racetrack, even a runway on the beach. The story of a relentless nature and its importance of the islands very existence. It is a story of which the wind and beaches has played, and still play a key role in the island’s self-understanding, and the island’s attractiveness to the many whom annually visit Fanø. The wind forms the dunes and the beach, and provides Fanø the unique nature that each year attracts and fascinates tourists from around the world. The wind has through all the times, been an integrated part of Fanø, and a life forming element of the island.” – LENDAGER ARCHITECTS

“WAN AWARD – SUSTAINABLE BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2014”
/in News /by dreamitThe competition of “Sustainable Building of the Year 2014” came to an end.
Lendager Architects is proud to be recognized amongst the finalists which included Snøhetta, tp bennett, HASSELL, Perkins+Will and Collingridge & Smith Architects
“Reviewing the six finalists to select the overall winner was long debated as the final six projects had each tackled sustainability issues in different ways in accordance to location and materials readily available. Lendager Architects Upcycle House made use of found and reclaimed materials, tackling carbon reduction during construction. The Powerhouse Kjørbo in Oslo, Norway by Snøhetta, meanwhile, uses reclaimed buildings that will give back more energy than they use. The panel members each had their work cut out, but eventually the final choice was between the VanDusen Botanical Garden Centre, the University of Queensland Global Change Institute and 1 Embankment Place.”
We are very proud to announce that the Upcycle House was recognized for its ”excellence in design” and shortlisted for the award of sustainable building of the year!
