Is it possible to build a New York warehouse style multifunction house in a Copenhagen context? Does it make economic- and resource sense to use upcycled materials as surfaces in a predefined design concept?

Augusthus Woods, is a modern multifunction office house in Ørestad Nord in Copenhagen. Apart from a Zuko office hotel the house features a public available café and restaurant, office hotel with touch down stations, meeting rooms, printers, coffee stations and a large convenient store on ground level. On the separate floor level the design allow a large degree of flexibility enabling smooth functional transitions over time.

The house is DGNB Gold Certified and upcycle features include an outer shell wall build with red waste tiles from tile production. In addition to contributing with a high degree of detailing and aesthetic quality each tile represents a CO2 saving of about 500g. On the inside upcycle features include the acoustic sealing made of recycled paper waste. The open sky courtyard on the inside connects the office hotel with the rest of the facility. The Wang Shus-style space is covered in beautifully patinated upcycle wood giving the courtyard a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
